How accurate is the valuation of the wines?
10/07/07 at 23:45:04

From Rob

Q: I have a question about how your software determines the "valuations" of the wines?  Does it determine the value by taking the average of wine auctions, or via some other means?  For instance, if I have a lot of wines in my cellar that I want to track their value for insurance purposes, what do I tell my insurance company, in case they ask how you determined the value?

A: For the most recent vintage of each wine, The Uncorked Cellar lists the retail or cellar door price of that wine. We determine this from the winemaker or winery each year. For earlier vintages in your cellar, the values you enter under Tools, Options, Value Calculations are used to estimate each wines value in your cellar.

See the help under "Reference information about a wine" for a more complete description of "Value Guide"
