How to divide & show the racks in the rack wizard
01/27/08 at 11:54:03

From Lance

Q. I have a total of 5 racks

      2 - 19 x 21 x 2 deep racks (1596 bottles)

      2 -  7 x 15 loose bottle racks (210 bottles)

      1 - 13 x 17 x 1deep magnum rack (221 bottles)

I need to identify and divide my racks and number the columns then create a similar situation inside The Uncorked Cellar but I really have no experience as to how best to divide the racks.

A: I would create 5 different racks within The Uncorked Cellar - and name them something that makes sense to me - with the name probably indicating where in the cellar they are located.

For example, something like this...
"North 2-Deep" and "South 2-Deep" for the 2 - 19 x 21 x 2 deep racks (1596 bottles)
"East Bin" and "West Bin" for the 2 -  7 x 15 loose bottle racks (210 bottles)
"Magnums" for the 1 - 13 x 17 x 1deep magnum rack (221 bottles)

For the two-deep racks, create a rack which is exactly the same as the physical rack (ie: 19 x 21 x 2 deep)
For the Magnums, create a rack which is exactly the same as the physical rack
For the bins, create a rack which is 7 columns wide, 15 rows deep, so that each column is 1 bin. You can make this a 15 deep rack if you want, but I would leave it just as a rack with 15 rows. In reality you will be ignoring the row number anyway because it is a loose bin.
