The Uncorked Cellar - July 2009
The July release is primarily an information update. It added over 19,000 new wine vintages, provides Windows 7 compatibility and addressed all issues raised by users since the January release.
New Features in 2009

REPORTS
- New capability to save reports as PDF files from the Report Preview (excludes barcode images)

RACKS AND TAGS
- New racksize lock to prevent accidental resizing of your rack
- New tools to clear all Tag numbers, Rack names, columns or rows (if you want to start over)
- New tool to add a rack location to EVERY bottle of wine in your cellar
- Detect (and correct) duplicate tag numbers when generating new tag numbers
- Significant speed improvements when uncorking wines using tags in the tag wizard, especially with large or multiple cellars
- New option to select what color to display unavailable locations
- Allow rack creation when you click on Tags and Racks from the add-wine page
BARCODE WIZARD
- Adding wines via the UPC code matches the wine when the only difference between the UPC code we list and what the scanner reads is leading zeros
- Uncorking wines by scanning tags is much faster, and additional bottles you scan during processing are queued then processed as soon as possible.
- Particularly useful if you have a wireless barcode reader
RULES
- Simplified rules to make the processing of actions much easier to understand
- Any change which results in a change to the number of bottles is now treated as an "Uncorked" or "added" event even if other changes are made
- "Modified" actions now check the record AFTER the change to determine if the rule is to be applied....
- As an example, this allows you to write a rule that will move a record to another cellar when you set a defined user field to a specific value
- Although the test is applied AFTER the change, the contents of the record BEFORE the change is moved to the appropriate cellar. This allows (for example) the tag and location information to be retained
- Only the 1st matching rule (when sorted alphabetically) is acted on This avoids the possibility of two conflicting rules trying to move a record to two different places
- The action to "Move a record" to another cellar is taken literally - such that the appropriate record is DELETED from your cellar if all bottles were moved
- An action to move a wine to a new cellar will add to an existing record of the same wine (if one is already in the target cellar)
- A rule is automatically created which moves the (last) bottle uncorked to a new "Previous Wines" cellar. If you do not want this to occur, go to Rules and disable the "[ Previous wines ]" rule
- Any rule which would add or move another wine to a cellar which already contains 1000 different wines is ignored (to limit the size of any automatically created cellars)
GENERAL
- New Winery map page
- Blank the respective internet pages with text saying "connecting" between the time you click on a wine, and its website is displayed
- Removed obsolete exit button from main page
- Fewer prompts during the installation of updates (actually part of the latter 2008 final builds)
- When the GlobalWineStocks website cannot be reached, dont attempt to contact their website again until restarting The Uncorked Cellar (prevents continued error popups)
- For the record, the default folders for first time installation are...
- Windows XP or earlier
- Program c:\Program Files\Uncork
- Cellars c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Uncork\Cellars
- Ini file c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Uncork\Config
- Run Log c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Uncork
- Windows Vista
- Program c:\Program Files\Uncork
- Cellars c:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Uncork\Cellars
- Ini file c:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Uncork\Config
- Run Log c:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Uncork
Existing cellars remain intact when you re-install the program - Windows XP or earlier
