The wine regions of Italy are divided into geographical regions such as the northeast, the northwest, central part of Italy and south end islands.
The northwest and northern central part of Italy produce distinctly different wines in each region both in style and flavor.
Northeast Italy is famous for the use of modern techniques for wine preparation, and is the location of the worlds largest vine nursery. These northeast Italian regions are collectively known as "Tre Venezie" meaning "Three Venice".
Central Italy, with six wine producing regions, produces approximately one fifth of Italian wine. Central Italy is famous for its exclusivity in climate with a moderate range of temperature and plenty of sunshine.
Southern Italy produces almost 20% of Italian wine production, and some of the best selling brands of Italian red-wine are produced here. This is also a popular tourist area and the vine yards are the center of attraction.
