Wine regions in Germany usually referred to are the 13 defined regions for quality wine.

These 13 German wine regions are

  • Ahr
  • Baden
  • Franken (or Franconia)
  • Hessische Bergstrasse (or Hessian Mountain Road)
  • Mittelrhein
  • Mosel (Previously known as Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)
  • Nahe
  • Pfalz (or Palatinate)
  • Rheingau
  • Rheinhessen (or Rhenish Hesse)
  • Saale-Unstrut

You may also find a wine described as being produced on the Rhine or its tributories - not suprising given that most German wine is produced along the river Rhine and its tributaries.
